What we do

Our basic service.

You know how, every time you employ tradesmen, you have to take a chance? You know how worrying it is to entrust your money - and your home - to complete strangers? You know how, no matter how trustworthy you think your contractors are, your head is alive with the stories you've heard about botched jobs, stolen money, and worse?

We take the worry out of building works. What we do is to keep a list of contractors, and we keep records all about exactly how good or how bad each one is. If they do poor work, or if they don't honour their guarantees, we know about it. And we tell you. On the other hand, if they do great work, finish ahead of time, and make sure you're happy with the job they do, we know about that too. And, we tell you that too.

We can spot the good guys from the bad. We know who has built up a great reputation, and who has ruined theirs. And we tell you everything we know. It's as if every contractor comes to you with a personal recommendation from one of your friends.

How do we do it?

Whenever you discuss a job with a contractor, using our system, you get to rate them. You can rate whether you liked their attitude, whether they turned up on time, and whether you thought they were paying attention to you. Once you employ someone, you get to rate how well they performed on the job. You even get to change the rating. day-by-day if you want, as your job progresses.

If there's a problem on your job, the whole world gets to know about it. And if the problem isn't fixed - well, the whole world gets to know about that too!

Most of the contractors on our system have already done some work which we know about. Before they get anywhere near you, they have already been appraised, and rated, by previous clients. Your assessment is added to all the other ratings which other clients have recorded, for the benefit of future clients.

What else do we do?

One of the most valuable things we offer is our "job-secure mailboxes". When you create a job, and start discussing it with prospective contractors, you get a special coded mailbox on our system. The benefits to you are

• Your identity is completely secure. Nobody knows who you are, or where you live.
• You won't get any spam or other unwanted mail.
• You get to save a complete record of all the mail that has passed between you and the contractors you employ. Nobody can tamper with it. It's in writing - it's part of the contract.

We also offer loads of advice written by industry experts: the laws and regulations you need to consider, the things you need to do to protect yourself from accidents and crooks, and news from the world of building and construction that you need to know about.

What does all this cost?

Nothing. If you're the client, you don't pay us a thing. You'll need to pay for your works, of course, and you'll agree that with the contractors you meet on Yes-We-Can.
